In a significant development, two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the Bihar cadre — Mr. Sushil Mansingh Khopde (1995 batch) and Mr. Shalin (2001 batch)— have been relieved from their current assignments and sent on central deputation. The Department of Home Affairs has issued official notifications for their release and transferred their services to the Government of India.
Mr. Sushil Khopde, who was serving as Additional Director General (ADG) of Prohibition in Bihar Police, has been appointed as Additional Director General (Joint Secretary level) in the Directorate General of Shipping. His services have been assigned to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and will continue until further orders or his retirement on September 30, 2029.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shalin, who held the post of Inspector General (IG) of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and also had additional charge as IG (Security), will now join the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as IG under central deputation.
In another key development, Ms. Harjot Kaur Bamhra, a 1992-batch IAS officer, has assumed charge as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department. Upon taking over, she was welcomed by senior forest officials at Aranya Bhavan.
A departmental meeting was also convened where forest officers presented detailed plans and activities of the department. Ms. Bamhra instructed the officers to expedite the recruitment process for vacant posts and consider creating new positions based on departmental needs. She also emphasized the importance of strengthening eco-development committees and joint forest management committees, along with reinforcing forest boundary management.
