3 IAS transferred in West Bengal, Dhaval Jain made Municipal Commissioner Kolkata

Kolkata: In a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, the West Bengal government has transferred three IAS within the state. Among the changes, the 2014 batch IAS officer Dhaval Jain, formerly Howrah’s Municipal Commissioner, has been appointed as the new Municipal Commissioner of Kolkata.

The outgoing Kolkata Municipal Commissioner, Officer Binod Kumar, an IAS officer from the 1996 batch, now assumes the role of principal secretary for minority affairs and Madrasah education department, with an additional responsibility as principal secretary for the department of correctional administration.

Simultaneously, Avanindra Singh, an IAS officer from the 2002 batch, has been directed to step down from his role as principal secretary in the fisheries department and to take charge as the divisional commissioner of the Burdwan division. The fisheries department will now fall under the purview of the Additional Chief Secretary of the environment and consumer affairs department.
