Dehradun: The Government of India has given permission to develop 34 Anganwadi centers in the state as Shishu Sadan. Due to which the Uttarakhand government is going to develop two Anganwadi centers as Shishu Sadan on a trial basis in the first phase. In which all the basic facilities like day boarding will be available.
Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya held a meeting with departmental officials in the Assembly on Wednesday. In the meeting, all the departmental schemes including one percent cess received from the Excise Department, Single Women Policy, Shishu Sadan, Take Home Ration, Women Welfare, Chief Minister Vatsalya Yojana were reviewed. During the meeting, Minister Rekha Arya gave all the necessary guidelines along with using one percent cess received from the Excise Department for Women Empowerment and Child Development, to operate the Creche (Palna) scheme of the Government of India in a better manner in the state and to discuss the Single Women Scheme. Along with this, the status of all the schemes run by the department for empowerment of women and child development in the state was also known.
Rekha Arya said that the department has prepared an action plan regarding the Single Women Scheme. Further action will be taken after testing it by the Finance Department. Departmental officials have been instructed that under the one percent cess received from the Excise Department, about eight crore rupees have been approved in the supplementary budget 2024-25. For its use, the rules should be prepared and its proposal should be placed in the cabinet meeting to be held next month.
The Government of India has started the Creche Scheme for the care of children of working women of the state between the ages of 6 months to 6 years. Under which the Government of India has approved the development of 34 Anganwadi centers in the state as Creche Centers i.e. Shishu Sadan. Therefore, under the first phase, two Anganwadi centers of the state, Haridwar and Anganwadi centers located in Selaqui will be operated as model Anganwadi Creche Centers. After its successful operation, other 32 Anganwadi centres will be developed as creche centres. Basic facilities like day boarding will be developed in these creche centres.
Reviewing the Vatsalya Yojana, Rekha Arya said that the amount for the months of July and August will be sent to the beneficiaries as soon as the budget is received in the month of September. Along with this, Rekha Arya has instructed the officials regarding the women policy that the shortcomings of the women policy should be removed by the State Foundation Day on 9 November.
