Dehradun/Rudraprayag: Heavy rains in Uttarakhand in the past few days have caused major damage. Rudraprayag district was the most affected. Due to heavy rains here, disaster-like conditions were created, as well as thousands of people got stranded at various places. Due to road damage at many places on the Kedarnath Yatra route, thousands of people were stranded at different places, whose relief and rescue work is going on. Departmental secretaries are present on the spot to repair the damaged Kedarnath route and other facilities. These officers will stay in the affected area by setting up camp till the arrangements are fixed.

In fact, at present, PWD Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Disaster Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and Chief Engineer of National State Highway Dayanand are present in the disaster affected areas. All these officers will stay in the affected areas by setting up camps till the arrangements of the Dham are complete. In this sequence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is also doing aerial inspection and ground inspection of the disaster affected area on Tuesday. During this tour, CM Dhami is also meeting local people and public representatives.
So many devotees have been rescued so far
Due to heavy rains on the Kedarnath Yatra route about a week ago, there has been a lot of damage to life and property. Also, today is the sixth day of relief and rescue work of thousands of devotees stranded at different places. So far 11,775 devotees have been evacuated. 274 devotees have been airlifted from Kedarnath.
2,918 people have been airlifted from Lynchauli and Bhimbali. 739 people have been rescued on foot from Lynchauli and Bhimbali. 7,769 people have been rescued from the Gaurikund to Sonprayag walking route. 75 people have been airlifted from Chidbasa. There are 50 devotees who are staying on their own.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the rescue operation of Kedarnath Yatra route is almost complete. A large number of stranded devotees from all over the country have been evacuated safely. Rescue has also been done through helicopter. Along with the state helicopter, rescue was done through Chinook and MI 17 helicopters. In such a situation, now the focus of the state government is to repair the roads, drinking water lines, power lines and other things which have been damaged as soon as possible and make the journey to Kedarnath Dham smooth.
