Dehradun: Justice Ritu Bahri, the acting chief justice of Punjab and Haryana high court, has been appointed as the chief justice of the Uttarakhand high court. A notification in this regard was issued by the Union government late on Friday evening.
As the Centre is yet to notify the appointment of new chief justice of the HC, first puisne judge, Justice GS Sandhawalia is all set to become the acting chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana high court after Justice Bahri’s transfer.
The Supreme Court collegium had recommended the name of Justice Bahri as the Uttarakhand HC chief justice a long time back. TNN
The Ministry of Law and Justice has appointed Chief Justices for several High Courts. Justice S. Vaidyanathan from Madras High Court is appointed as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh from Patna High Court is appointed as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. The appointments were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium.
Chief Justices were appointed to six high courts, including Allahabad and Rajasthan. Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan high court, Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, was appointed as its Chief Justice. Justice Arun Bhansali, also of the Rajasthan HC, was appointed as Chief Justice of Allahabad high court.
According to the Bangladeshi judicial officers, the training sessions at the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy were highly useful and informative.
