Major IPS Reshuffle in West Bengal

Calcutta: Amidst a major shake-up of police executives in West Bengal on February 17th, senior IPS officer Sumit Kumar (2009-batch) was transferred from the post of DIG at Barasat Range to the DIG of Security. IPS officer Bhaskar Mukherjee (2009 batch), DIG at Malda range, is set to assume Mr. Sumit Kumar’s incumbent post.

The Bengal government also mandated the ADG & IGP, Traffic & Road Safety, IPS officer Supratim Sarkar (1997 batch), to assume office as the ADG & IGP of South Bengal. IPS officer Tripurari Atharv (1998-batch), incumbent as the ADG & IGP (Western Zone), has been appointed the new ADG of state STF, while Officer Ashok Kumar Prasad is set to replace Mr. Atharv.

Officer Santosh Pandey (IPS batch 2006), presently posted as joint CP Headquarters of Kolkata Police, was appointed as Additional CP III of the force while the incumbent Joint CP of Kolkata Police STF, IPS officer V Solomon Nesakumar (2006 batch) was mandated to assume office as the Additional CP-IV of the city police. Officer Meeraj Khalid (2007-batch), posted as Kolkata Police Joint CP (Establishment), was transferred to Joint CP (Headquarters), while another 2007 batch IPS officer, Mr. Syed Waquar Raza, became the Joint CP (Crime).
