Vijayawada: Andhra Pradeshs Govt has appointed 2006-batch IAS officer, K Kannababu, as commissioner, panchayat raj and rural development.
The incumbent PR commissioner, A Suryakumari, has been shifted as fisheries commissioner.
Kannababu will continue to hold additional charge as MD of APTDC and CEO of AP Tourism.
Special chief secretary (panchayat raj and rural development) Budithi Rajasekhar was asked to report in GAD for further posting.
Irrigation principal secretary Sashibhushan Kumar was asked to hold additional charge of PR and RD.
Sources said govt decided to axe special CS and commissioner of PR and RD following complaints from MLAs and district collectors. Legislators complained that the administration of panchayat raj department was in shambles since Suryakumari took over as commissioner last year.
According to sources, she ignored instructions of special CS and CMO on many occasions prompting govt to move her as fisheries commissioner. TDP, too, had lodged complaints to the Election Commission of India (ECI) about irregularities taken place during transfer of officials in PR and RD department in violation of EC guidelines.
TDP alleged that CEOs of several zilla parishads continued even after serving over three years in a district citing that they were not holding direct poll related work. However, opposition leaders say that CEOs were acting as YSRCP agents.
For instance, Kadapa ZP CEO Sudhakar Reddy has been working in the same district for about 20 years while Krishna ZP Jyothi Basu continued in the post at the behest of YSRCP leaders, alleged TDP senior leader Varla Ramaiah.
Similarly, deputy CEO of Guntur ZP Mohan Rao has been working in the district for the past 25 years without moving out of the district.
AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation MD D Muralidhar Reddy has been entrusted with additional charge of CEO, SERP. Social welfare director Harshavardhan was asked to hold additional charge of minority affairs secretary.
Housing Corporation MD Venkata Ramana Reddy has been given additional charge as additional CCLA and secretary to CCLA. Previously, AMD Imtiaz, who took VRS two days ago, held CEO, SERP, minority affairs secretary and additional CCLA posts.
