five IAS officers reshuffle in Haryana, Chief Secretary changed; TVSN Prasad to now helm post

Chandigarh: In a sudden development, the Haryana government has changed its Chief Secretary while appointing state home secretary TVSN Prasad for the highest administrative post of the state.

As per the order of the state government issued Friday, TVSN Prasad has been posted as the Chief Secretary “during the leave period of Shri Sanjeev Kaushal…”. Prasad will also continue to look after two other key departments — Revenue and Home.

A 1988-batch IAS officer, Prasad has been looking after the state Home department since August 2022. In September 2023, the government had given him the responsibility of additional chief secretary (Revenue) too.

As the Chief Secretary, Prasad will look after important departments which include General Administration, Human Resources, Personnel and Training, Parliamentary Affairs and Vigilance.

A 1986-batch IAS officer, Sanjeev Kaushal’s retirement is due on July 31 this year. After Kaushal, Prasad is the senior most IAS officer in Haryana. Normally, the government has been appointing the senior most IAS officer as the Chief Secretary except for a few exceptions. Prasad’s retirement is due on October 31 this year.

 

Prasad’s name figures in the top of a list of five IAS officers whose transfer and posting orders were issued on Friday. As per the orders, the Chief Administrator of Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran, T L Satyaprakash, will also look after the responsibility of the managing director of Haryana Minerals Limited, New Delhi.

Gurgaon Commissioner R C Bidhan will also look after the responsibility of secretary, Haryana State Commission for Scheduled Castes while ADC Palwal Dr Bramjeet Singh Rangi has been given the assignment of District Municipal Commissioner, Palwal. ADC Nuh Pradeep Singh will also look after the assignment of District Municipal Commissioner, Nuh.

Meanwhile, an IPS officer and ADGP (administration), Kala Ramachandran, will look after responsibilities as the OSD of the Heritage and Tourism department. SP Karnal Shashank Kumar Sawan has been transferred as SP Rewari while SP Rewari Deepak Saharan will look after the responsibility of SP Karnal.
