ECI Instructs Haryana Govt to Transfer IPS Rajesh Duggal, Husband of Sitting MP From Sirsa

chandigarh: The Election Commission of India has ordered the government of Haryana to transfer Mr. Rajesh Duggal (2010 batch IPS), who is the spouse of the Member of Parliament (MP) and BJP politician from Sirsa, Ms. Sunita Duggal, to ensure a free and fair election.

Mr. Duggal, presently posted as the Joint Commissioner of Police in Gurugram, has been transferred to the post of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at Police Headquarters in Panchkula. During the 17th Lok Sabha elections in 2019, the ECI transferred Mr. Duggal from the post of commandant of the 3rd battalion of the Haryana Armed Police in Hisar, citing the same reason.

The letter issued by Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home Department), Mr. T V S N Prasad, reads, “As directed by the Election Commission of India, he (Officer Duggal) shall not be assigned any election-related work till the completion of the Lok Sabha election in the state.”
