NTPC’s Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Shall Facilitate Over 10,000 Young Girls

Mumbai: Maharatna PSU National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is set to launch the latest edition of its flagship CSR initiative — Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM). This flagship initiative by the NTPC is in tune with the Centre’s “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” initiative and is aimed at eliminating gender inequality by supporting a girl child’s dreams and opening the door for her to explore boundless opportunities in her life. Through this initiative NTPC wishes to transform a girl child into a catalyst of change, influencing not only themselves but also their families, communities, and the nation as a whole. NTPC aims to paint a brighter future for upcoming generations by equipping girls with essential tools and unwavering support to bolster their skills.

Via the latest edition of the GEM, the Maharatna PSU aims to add nearly 3,000 meritorious children (from 42 identified locations) based out from underprivileged sections of society and offer them a holistic approach to skill development, confidence-building, and mentorship. With this latest development, the total number of beneficiaries is expected to cross the 10,000 mark. Thus far, NTPC’s GEM has benefited 7,424 girls, with a gradual increase in the number of participants each year. In 2023 alone, as many as 2,707 girls participated in their workshop across 40 locations of NTPC, spanning across 16 states of India.
