Amrawati : The Election Commission of India appointed Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta (1992 batch IPS officer) as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Gupta was asked to assume office without any delay.
Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta replaced Mr. KV Rajendranath (1992 batch IPS officer) as the new DGP after the latter was transferred by the ECI on May 5. Mr. Gupta made the cut from a list of three names sent by the Andhra government to the EC that also featured IPS officers Dwaraka Tirumala Rao (1989 batch) and Madireddy Pratap (1990 batch).
