Telangana: Government Appoints Senior IAS Officers as Interim Vice Chancellors for 10 State Universities

The Telangana government has appointed ten senior IAS officials as in-charge Vice Chancellors for various state universities, following the end of the incumbent VCs’ tenures on Tuesday.

Among the appointments, Principal Secretary (MAUD) M. Dana Kishore will serve as the in-charge Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, and Principal Secretary (Education) Burra Venkatesham will oversee Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU).

Karuna Vakati, Secretary and Commissioner of the Women and Child Welfare Department, has been named in-charge VC for Kakatiya University. The appointments aim to ensure continuity in university administration until permanent VCs are selected. Search committees have been established to identify suitable candidates for the permanent positions.

Additional appointments include Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, Energy Secretary, as in-charge VC for Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University, and Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Secretary of Panchayat Raj, for Telangana University. Shailaja Ramaiyer, Tourism Principal Secretary, will oversee Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University.

Navin Mittal, Revenue Principal Secretary, is appointed for Mahatma Gandhi University, while Nadeem Ahmed, Planning Principal Secretary, will handle Palamur University. Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, will be in-charge of Jawaharlal Nehru Architectural and Fine Arts University, and IAS officer K. Surendra Mohan will take over Satavahana University.

During his retirement ceremony, outgoing Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. D. Ravinder expressed his gratitude and reflected on his 40-year journey with the university, highlighting the developmental milestones achieved during his tenure. He underscored the importance of alumni involvement and the establishment of the Osmania Foundation, receiving praise for his contributions to the university’s growth.
