New Delhi : Weeks ahead of superannuation the New Delhi establishment on Thursday appointed Saurabh Garg (IAS: 1991: OR) as Secretary, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (M/o SPI) up to his superannuation on 31 July 2024 and thereafter on contract basis for a period of one year ending 31 July 2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Currently, he is Secretary Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.
In addition to M/o SPI the establishment has also mandated Saurabh Garg to function as Secretary to National Statistical Commission.
The post-retirement appointment of Garg (on contract basis) came three days after the appointment of Pradeep Kumar Tripathi (IAS: 1987: AGMUT) as Secretary to the Lokpal of India till the date of his superannuation (i.e. 30.06.2024) and thereafter on contract basis for a period of two years beyond the date of his superannuation on 30 June 2024.
In another significant development the New Delhi establishment partially modified its order dated 27.05.2024 and regularised Amit Yadav (IAS: 1991: AGMUT) as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment vice Saurabh Garg. It may be underlined that Amit Yadav was on Monday appointed as OSD in the ministry to succeed Garg as Secretary w.e.f. 01 August 2024.
