‘Alas’ due to power cut in Haldwani, CM Dhami tightens screws on officials

Haldwani: There is a continuous power crisis in Haldwani, the gateway to Kumaon. Leave aside the day, life of people has become difficult due to power cuts lasting for hours even at night. Dainik Jagran prominently raised the problems of consumers in the scorching heat. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken cognizance of the news of the crisis situation.

CM Dhami, who reached Haldwani on Saturday, reprimanded the Energy Corporation officials. Tightening the screws, the officials said that the public should not face any kind of problem.   While holding a meeting in the FTI auditorium, CM Dhami sought answers from the Energy Corporation officials on the power crisis in Haldwani.

Why is power supply coming to a halt for hours during the day and night?

Citing the news of Dainik Jagran, he asked why the power supply was coming to a standstill for hours during the day and night. How will people survive in the scorching heat without equipment like fans and coolers? Chief Minister Dhami, taking a tough stand with the officials, said that it is the government’s resolve to provide the best possible facilities to the citizens.

He said that there should be no power cuts at all. He also asked to pick up the phone of journalists and citizens and listen to their problems. Apart from this, instructions have also been given to keep the number of each sub-center of the Energy Corporation active.

In fact, there was a problem of power cuts from morning to late night in Haldwani and surrounding areas for the last several days. Due to the lack of smooth power supply, consumers were forced to constantly struggle with the heat. Due to this, drinking water supply and business were getting affected, but the officials of the Energy Corporation were washing their hands off by citing increased load. In such a situation, the public was forced to boil.
