Kerala: IAS K Vasuki’s Appointment As ‘State’s Foreign Secy,’ Labeled Unconstitutional By State BJP

Allegations from the Kerala BJP range from ‘audatious overreach’ to ‘trying to establish Keralam as a separate nation.’ Officer Vasuki, a 2008-batch IAS officer, last posted as Secretary (labour and skills), has been mandated to take additional charge of matters connected with external cooperation as “Secretary in charge of matters concerning external cooperation.”

An official directive from Kerala’s LDF government read, “The general administration (political) department will assist Vasuki till alternate arrangements are made. The resident commissioner of the Kerala House in New Delhi has been instructed to assist her in liaising with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi and the Indian embassies and missions abroad.”
