Odisha: Home Secy To Chair A Committee That Shall Decide Transfer & Postings Of DSP Rank Officers

The government of Odisha has recently formed a panel chaired by its Home Secretary, that shall decide the transfers and postings of several police officers serving in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and equivalent positions. This decision shall enable the Director General of Police (DGP) to exercise critical supervisory powers.

The notification regarding the same stated that the transfers and postings of officers at the ranks of DSP/Assistant Commandant (AC) and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP)/Deputy Commandant (DC) will now be managed by the committee. The committee shall also function as a forum of appeal for handling representations from officers regarding their transfers and postings.

This committee will be chaired by the Home Secretary, with the DGP as a member. A second member will be the Special Secretary/Additional Secretary or Joint Secretary of the Home Department (in charge of the establishment).
