Dehradun: While giving instructions to fulfill the target of placement of 1500 youths from Uttarakhand abroad by the month of December, Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi has instructed to make the students of the state aware about this program of the government and encourage them to participate in the courses run by the Skill Development Department. So far, 23 students have been sent for placement in Japan as care givers under the government’s overseas placement program. Along with this, a batch of 30 nursing staff will start preparing for training for Japan by August 10. Smt Raturi has instructed to start new batches for the training of youth so that the processes can be expedited to achieve the target of 1500.
Four agencies Navis, Learnet, Genrise, Envertis have been empaneled by the Skill Development Department for the overseas placement program. To achieve the target of getting 1500 youth placed abroad by December and to provide better opportunities to the talented and deserving youth of the state, Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi has directed to issue an open advertisement and organize a one-day workshop in the concerned educational institutions. So far, 56 students have been admitted for training by the listed agencies and NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation).
To ensure that the youth of the state, especially those from the hilly areas, do not have to be deprived of the overseas placement program due to the constraint of English language, CS Smt Radha Raturi has given instructions to conduct spoken English courses in ITI. During the review meeting of SETU and Skill Development Department in the Secretariat, the Chief Secretary has advised all the departments to work keeping skill development in focus.
It was informed in the meeting that workshops are being organized by the Skill Development Department and empaneled agencies for overseas placement programs and mobilization of students in various nursing and hospitality institutes of the state. 10 marketing events will be organized for this in October. Talks are being held with Adani Group for the development of a global level skill park in the state.Initial discussions have been held with ITE Education Services Singapore for the development of model ITI in the state, and an MoU is likely to be signed in this regard by September. The proposal for upgradation of 13 ITIs in the state by Tata Technologies has been approved by the Finance Department and has now been sent to NABARD. An MoU is likely to be signed with Tata Technologies in this regard soon. In relation to the development of Center of Excellence in GITI in Kashipur, 95 percent placements have been done for the first five batches. In relation to the development of Center of Excellence in GITI in Haridwar, 100 percent placements have been done for the first four batches. Mobilization of students for future batches will be done soon in both these GITIs. So far, counseling has been done for mobilization of more than 300 students across the state. More than 6 seminars were conducted for the mobilization of students. Soon 4 batches are being trained for placement in Japan, Germany, United Kingdom and Ireland.
Vice Chairman SETU Ayog Shri Rajshekhar Joshi, Secretary Shri R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shri Sachin Kurve and other departmental officers were present in the meeting.
