Dehradun: Work is going on at a fast pace in Uttarakhand on the determination of MSP (Minimum Support Price) for Millet Policy, High Tech Apple Nursery Policy, Post Harvest Infra Policy, Kiwi Farming Policy, Honey Policy, Mehak Revolution Policy, Jhangora. Along with this, keeping in mind the convenience and interest of the farmers and to promote apple production in the state, Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has given a deadline of 15 days to the Horticulture Department to finalize the proposal for amendment in UTPADAC (High Density Apple Policy) in the meeting of Setu Commission and Agriculture and Horticulture Department in the Secretariat. In this regard, the distribution of subsidy in three installments of 80 percent, 10 percent and 10 percent was discussed. Under the current policy, applications of 436 farmers have been received so far regarding the proposal of apple production in 171 acres area.
Regarding Hi-Tech Apple Nursery Policy (PRADHAN), Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has instructed to propose the policy in its final form as soon as possible after discussing with all the stakeholders. She has instructed to propose it in its final form after making the desired amendments in the Post Harvest Infra Policy (SUPHAL) along with getting funding from the state.
While giving instructions to propose the Kiwi Cultivation Policy in its final form before a week, Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has discussed the distribution of subsidy to the Kiwi producers in three installments of 80 percent, 10 percent and 10 percent.
Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has given a deadline of 4 weeks to the Horticulture Department to finalize the Honey Policy being brought with the aim of promoting the production of integrated bee products in the state. She has also instructed to make the desired amendments in the Millet Policy and propose it in its final form as soon as possible. Under the Millet Policy, focus will be on increasing the productivity of millets and expanding the area. CS has directed that the policy should be worked upon with the vision of shifting from wheat and rice cultivation to millets cultivation in the state. He has also directed to increase awareness on the carbon credit received by the farmers of the state from the cultivation of millets. CS has also directed to send the proposal for fixing the minimum support price of Jhangora soon. He has directed to collect accurate data of millets production in the state.
In view of the immense possibilities of floriculture in the state, Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has directed to work on the action plan to establish flower mandis in Haldwani and Rishikesh as well as coordination between mandis and departments. She has directed to make the supply chain effective in this regard.
Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has directed to immediately start the work of soil profiling under the Agriculture Master Plan. In the meeting, the proposal to change the name of TDC to Uttarakhand Seed Corporation was also discussed.
On this occasion, Secretary Shri R Meenakshi Sundaram, Setu Commission Vice Chairman Shri Rajshekhar Joshi, along with officials of Agriculture and Horticulture Department were present.
