Maneesh Garg, a 1996 batch IAS officer from Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the Deputy Election Commissioner of India. Currently serving as the Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Principal Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, Garg will assume his new role at the Election Commission of India at the rank and pay level of an Additional Secretary. His post has been temporarily upgraded to this level. Garg holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and an MA in Global Security from King’s College London.
