CM Dhami reviewed the damage caused by heavy rains in the state, emphasized on the treatment of landslide area

Dehradun: Monsoon wreaks havoc every year in Uttarakhand, a disaster-sensitive state. Due to monsoon rains, the situation here becomes worse. In these circumstances, not only Uttarakhand has to suffer economic loss, but many times there is loss of life as well. The rain that came in the past days had caused a lot of havoc in Rudraprayag, Tehri and Uttarkashi districts, which also caused a lot of damage. Regarding all these disasters, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting with the officials at Uttarakhand Secretariat Dehradun on Thursday.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took information from all the district officials of the state about the damage caused due to heavy rains and relief and rescue operations. Along with this, CM Dhami directed the Uttarkashi DM to conduct a technical study of the Varunavat landslide area with the help of IIT Roorkee and THDC.

Emphasis on treatment of landslide area

Also said that the studies done earlier in this area should also be taken into account. So that the landslide area can be treated in a better way. Apart from this, it has also been asked to speed up the treatment and expansion work of the areas around Jankichatti.

Instructions to prepare a list of landslide areas

CM Dhami asked all the District Magistrates of the state to prepare a list of landslide areas and start the tender process to work fast on the reconstruction schemes along with repairing the roads as soon as the rainy season ends. At the same time, along with repairing the Chardham Yatra routes, the status of landslide affected areas and rainfall should also be studied by technical institutions. During the meeting, CM Dhami instructed the officials in this regard to pay full attention to the reconstruction work to be done in the disaster affected areas.

No shortage of funds

Landslides in the state cause a lot of damage to the roads. CM Dhami instructed the officials regarding this. At the same time, he asked to give attention to the development of alert system related to landslides. He also said that there will be no shortage of funds for the assistance of disaster affected and reconstruction work. Special attention should also be paid in this direction so that the development work of the state is not affected due to the disaster.

Drainage system should be improved

CM Dhami said that after many years, heavy rains on July 7-8 in the areas of Sitarangaj, Tanakpur, Banbasa and Terai Bhabar caused flood situation due to accumulation of large amount of water, which also needs to be studied. So that the water drainage system and drainage system can be improved.

The CM said that it is the responsibility of the government to immediately help the disaster affected. We cannot stop the disaster, but we can help the affected to reduce its impact. During the review meeting, the CM also asked the District Magistrates to prepare a report on tree plantation and the status of Amrit Sarovars.

He also said that there is a possibility of heavy rain across the state in the month of September as well. In view of which all the officers should be alert and prepare a better road map for the prevention of diseases occurring after the rain.
