CM Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs of Khatima firing incident, said- the agitators sacrificed their lives to establish the state of Uttarakhand

Khatima: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the Shaheed Smarak in his home area Khatima and paid tribute to the martyred state agitators who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of Uttarakhand state by garlanding their statues. During this, the families of the state agitator martyrs were honored.

Addressing the gathering present in the program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the land of Khatima is the mother of Uttarakhand because for the first time on 1 September 1994, seven state agitators sacrificed their lives on this land of Khatima. After which the movement gained momentum in Mussoorie and other places as well, as a result of which the state of Uttarakhand was established. I salute all those martyrs who struggled for the establishment of the state. Today Uttarakhand is moving ahead on the path of continuous development and nature. We are determined to make Uttarakhand the best state of the country.

Public representatives of all political parties paid tribute to the martyrs

It is worth noting that like every year, this year also the program was organized by Uttarakhand State Movement Forum. Expressing happiness over the Uttarakhand government giving 10% horizontal reservation to the state movement works, the Movement Forum organized a grand tribute program this year. Due to which, keeping party politics aside, public representatives of all political parties shared the stage with the state movement and remembered the martyr movement and paid tribute.

Along with this, Congress MLA from Nanakmatta, Gopal Singh Rana also remembered the struggle for the establishment of the state and paid tribute to the martyrs. Rudrapur BJP MLA Shiv Arora and MP Ajay Bhatt also attended the program and paid tribute to the martyrs.

It is known that on 1 September 1994, the police brutally fired on the state agitators demanding Uttarakhand state in Khatima. In which seven state agitators sacrificed their lives. To pay tribute to those state agitators, every year 1 September is celebrated as Martyr’s Day.
