Dhami government will give 50 percent subsidy on electricity expenditure up to 200 units in high Himalayan areas and 100 units in other areas, government order issued

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had announced a big gift for electricity consumers on the occasion of his birthday i.e. on September 16. Under which 50 percent subsidy will be given to domestic category electricity consumers of the state who use up to 100 units of electricity every month. In this regard, Energy Secretary Meenakshi Sundaram has issued a government order on Tuesday. According to the order issued, this scheme has come into effect from September 1, 2024.

According to the government order issued by Energy Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, such domestic category electricity consumers of snow-covered area who use up to 200 units of electricity every month will be given 50 percent subsidy. The benefit of the scheme will be provided only after determining the snow-covered area on the basis of the height above sea level of the concerned area as per the prevailing rules. Along with this, such domestic category consumers of other areas who use electricity load up to 1 kilowatt and up to 100 units of electricity every month will be given 50 percent subsidy. At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Uttarakhand government is working keeping in mind the interests of the public. The decision to give subsidy in electricity bill has been taken to provide relief to the economically weaker and middle class families of the state. This decision will not only reduce the financial burden on the citizens of the state but will also encourage people to use energy limitedly. He said that this scheme will especially provide relief to the electricity consumers living in the high Himalayan region.
