Dehradun: After the amendment in the guidelines of the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme in Uttarakhand, people’s interest in the solar energy scheme increased rapidly. Currently, work is going on on 174 megawatt projects under this scheme. Very good work is being done in Tehri, Uttarkashi and Champawat districts under this scheme. Ginger cultivation is also being done along with solar in Kukreda village of Mori tehsil. The same land is being utilized in two ways. According to Secretary Dr. R Meenakshi Sundaram, Uttarakhand ranks first in the country in terms of the disposal rate of applications under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. The state is also progressing rapidly in this scheme. The state government is also providing subsidy under this scheme. Solar roof tops will be installed in all government buildings in the state in the next two-three years.
At the same time, the CM said that the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana and the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme are important steps towards increasing energy production as well as self-employment opportunities in the state. Through solar energy, not only will power supply be ensured in the remote areas of the state, but youth and villagers will also get employment opportunities in their villages. This initiative is also important for promoting clean energy.
