IRS Officer Chandra Mohan Singh Appointed as Private Secy to Minister Shantanu Thakur

Chandra Mohan Singh, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the 2013 batch, has been appointed as Private Secretary to Shantanu Thakur, the Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways. This appointment comes following an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on October 15, 2024.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Mr. Singh’s appointment for a tenure extending up to January 14, 2028, which constitutes the maximum admissible period of seven years away from his cadre. His term may be extended on a co-terminus basis or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister or until further orders are issued.

Singh’s new role will place him at the forefront of the Ministry’s operations, contributing to critical decisions and policies regarding India’s ports and waterways. His extensive experience in the IRS is expected to bring valuable insights to the ministry’s initiatives.
