Tehri: Tehri District Magistrate Mayur Dixit made a courtesy call on Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Gurmeet Singh. During this, the Tehri DM informed the Governor about the development plans of the district. Also presented a coffee table book to give detailed information about the tourist places, spiritual centers and adventure tourist destinations of Tehri district.
District Magistrate Mayur Dixit told the Governor that work is being done on the instructions given earlier by the Governor to make women in Tehri health conscious and to help in packaging and branding for the products of self-help groups. He informed that a survey conducted in the district revealed that more than one lakh people in the district are suffering from anemia, including a large number of women. Under the Anemia Mukt Bharat program in the district, a special campaign was run from May 10 to August 16, 2024 in collaboration with the Health and Education Department.
Under this campaign, digital hemoglobin tests were conducted by organizing health camps in schools and villages, in which more than 1 lakh 38 thousand people were tested. In the test, more than 66 thousand people were found to be suffering from anemia. Out of this, 38 thousand 673 were found to be suffering from mild anemia, 27 thousand 238 from moderate anemia and 500 from severe anemia. He said that after this campaign, a change has been seen in the cases of anemia. 22005 people with mild symptoms have been cured of anemia. At the same time, out of 27238 people with moderate symptoms, 17321 people have come in the category of mild symptoms. Out of 500 people with severe symptoms, 380 people have come in the category of moderate symptoms and this improvement is continuing.
The Governor praised the work of the Tehri district administration for this campaign and the initiative to promote tourism. Governor Gurmeet Singh said, health awareness is very important in hilly districts. Especially for women, who are often busy with work and are unable to pay attention to their health. He said that such campaigns should be run in other districts as well and expected this from other districts as well.
