Vigilance Awareness Week against Corruption begins, team of experts to be formed to strengthen Vigilance

Dehradun: The Vigilance Department is working on the basis of zero tolerance policy against corruption. In such a situation, the Vigilance Department is also organizing Vigilance Awareness Week to make people aware of corruption. This awareness week, which will run from 28 October to 3 November, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday.

Vigilance Awareness Week against Corruption

Vigilance Awareness Week-2024 and Training Camp based on ‘Prosperity of the Nation with the Culture of Integrity’ was organized in the Vigilance Department office. During the awareness week, discussions are being held to make the department more strong as well as to make people aware of it. During the program, CM Dhami announced that a team of surveillance, technical and financial experts would be formed to make the functioning of the Vigilance Department more effective. Along with this, the CM honored the employees doing better work in the Vigilance Establishment by giving them a citation. Remembering Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man who dedicated his life for the unity and integrity of the country, the CM said that on the occasion of his birth anniversary, ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ is organized every year to make public administration transparent and accountable.

State government’s zero tolerance policy against corruption

The Chief Minister said that work is being done rapidly in every field to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047. The country is also prospering economically, socially and morally. The e-governance initiative started under Modi’s leadership has promoted transparency in government processes. Demonetization, GST and DBT system have worked towards eradicating corruption from its roots. He said that the state government is working with a zero tolerance policy towards corruption. Strict action has been taken against those found guilty of corruption.

Exercise to strengthen the Vigilance Department

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the main objective of organizing Vigilance Awareness Week is to make such a system effective in the state in which there is no place for corruption. Also, the Vigilance Department is playing its role in establishing transparency everywhere. More than 75 people have been sent to jail in 66 trap cases in the state within the last three years. In such a situation, efforts are being made to end corruption within the state and work with complete transparency on the basis of zero tolerance policy. To further strengthen the Vigilance Department, instructions have been given to the government in this regard that whatever work is to be done, that work should be completed at all costs.

A team of experts will be formed

During this, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan said that Vigilance is such an institution which works to eliminate the irregularities in the system and corruption on the complaint. The Vigilance Department is formed to take strict action against it. He also said that the Vigilance Department is working on the government’s zero tolerance policy. CM Dhami has also made an announcement in this direction on how the Vigilance Department can be strengthened further. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also given instructions in this regard that a meeting should be held with the department to discuss how the system can be further improved.
