Dehradun: Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri has returned after participating in the 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Union Conference. After returning, Speaker Khanduri gave information about the discussions held in the conference held in Australia. She said that during the conference, discussions were held on improving the parliamentary working system. Also, a decision was taken in the conference to recognize the union as a non-charitable organization.

The special thing is that the Commonwealth Parliamentary Union discusses various topics like constitutional, social, cultural, economic and legislative of democracy. This time, elections were also held for the post of President in the 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Union Conference, in which Dr. Christopher Kalila, the candidate supported by the Indian region, was elected as the new President.
68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference to be held in Barbados
During the conference, there was an opportunity to discuss and adopt various legislative and constitutional rules in a better form. During the conference, the date and venue of the next 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference was also selected. The 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference will be held in Barbados from 6 October to 13 October 2025.
At the same time, Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri said that this conference gives a better opportunity to understand and exchange socio-economic and constitutional traditions in different countries. During this, he also presented the schemes and better works being adopted by India in the conference. During this, the steps taken to strengthen the democratic processes of India were also informed in the conference.
He told that during this conference many workshops were held in which information was also given about the work done for women empowerment in India. 9 regions around the world represent themselves in the Union, out of which one president has been elected from the Indian region, which is also a big achievement in itself.
