IOFS Rajender Kumar’s Tenure as Joint Secretary Extended for One Year

The central deputation tenure of Rajender Kumar (IOFS: 1997) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Food & Public Distribution has been extended for another year.

According to a recent order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal from the Department of Food & Public Distribution to extend Kumar’s tenure until December 3, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kumar, an officer from the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS), has been serving in the Department of Food & Public Distribution, where his leadership has been critical in shaping policies related to food security, distribution, and public welfare.

The decision to extend his deputation comes as the Department continues to play a central role in the government’s food security initiatives, including the Public Distribution System (PDS), which ensures food availability to millions across the country.
