Rishikesh: The work of Rishikesh Karnaprayag railway line, which is included in the dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is going on at a fast pace, but people will have to wait for about two more years to travel by train between Rishikesh-Karnprayag. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited has extended the deadline for running the train on the mountain. The reason for this is said to be the geographical conditions of the mountains.
Work on 85 km railway track completed
Chief Project Manager of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, Ajit Yadav, gave many important information about the Rishikesh Karnaprayag rail line in a press conference. He said that in the 104 km long rail project, the work of 85 km railway track has been completed. According to this, 86% work has been done by Rail Vikas Nigam so far. Train will run till January 2027
Apart from this, 28 breakthroughs have been made in the tunnel. A total of 40 tunnels are to be breakthrough. Breakthrough of 10 tunnels is expected by March 2025. The remaining two breakthroughs will be done by December 25. Whereas, by March 2026, the entire work of laying 213 km railway line will be completed. From December 2026 or January 2027, people will start getting rail facility to go from Rishikesh to Karnaprayag.
Work on building construction for railway staff will start soon
He told that this entire railway track is being built with high-tech technology. In which neither gunpowder is being used to break the tunnel, nor the mountain is being damaged in any way. Along with preparing the railway track, the work of building construction for railway staff will also be started soon at all 12 stations. For this, the tender process will be completed in the next 15 days. 5 out of 19 big bridges are ready
The target has been set to complete the construction work of the building in one and a half years. Apart from this, 5 out of 19 big bridges on Shivpuri, Gular and Alaknanda rivers have been completed. Whereas, work is in progress on 14 bridges. It is expected that all these bridges will be ready by the end of the year 2025. At the same time, in response to the question asked about the cracks, he said that due to digging the tunnel, some villagers had also complained about cracks in the houses. Rail Vikas Nigam has given compensation to all the affected people.
