Mr. Altaf Khan, a 2010-batch IPS officer from Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed as DIG, South Range, Mizoram. The South Range holds strategic significance due to its proximity to the Myanmar and Bangladesh borders, making it the largest geographical region in the state. Officer Khan had earlier served as the DIG of the South Kashmir range.
