Retired IPS Officer T. Prabhakar Rao Seeks Asylum in the US Amid Phone-Tapping Case

Retired IPS officer T. Prabhakar Rao, the prime accused in a phone-tapping case in Telangana, has reportedly sought political asylum in the US. He left India on March 11th, just after the case was filed. He sought asylum in the US for recognition as a “political refugee.”

Mr. Rao, a 2001-batch Telangana cadre retired IPS officer, currently in Florida receiving cancer treatment, claims harassment despite his key government roles. Telangana police are attempting to bring him back through an INTERPOL Red Corner notice. There is no official confirmation regarding his asylum request from authorities.
