Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the medal winning players of the state level sports Mahakumbh will also be given the benefit of four percent reservation like other players on direct recruitment posts. Along with this, sports kits will also be provided to the players participating in the sports Mahakumbh at the district level.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made the above announcements while inaugurating the state level competitions of Khel Mahakumbh – 2024 at the Directorate of Youth Welfare on Sunday. On this occasion, he presented a cheque of Rs 50 lakh incentive to Amisha Chauhan, a skiing participant in the Deaf Olympics. Sonia, who won the gold medal in the 27th National Federation in athletics, was given a cheque of Rs 02 lakh and Rahul Sarnaliya, who won the gold medal in the 22nd National Federation Junior, was given a cheque of Rs 01 lakh incentive.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister said that the Khel Mahakumbh is a special event. In this, players get a chance to showcase their talent from gram panchayat to block, district, to the state level. This is helping in developing sports culture in the state. Along with this, the Khel Mahakumbh is also contributing to increasing the interest of youth towards sports as well as developing a sense of discipline and teamwork. The Chief Minister said that more than three and a quarter lakh players had participated in the Khel Mahakumbh last year, this time’s event will work to break this record. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in this year’s Khel Mahakumbh, prize money of more than Rs 11 crore will be distributed to the winning players of various levels through DBT. Therefore, the players should come forward and showcase their talent.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has been working to encourage sports and players. In this sequence, by implementing the new sports policy, every possible solution has been found to the challenge faced by the common players. The state government is giving out of turn government jobs to medal winning players at the national and international level. While establishing the Chief Minister’s Sports Development Fund, the cash amount given earlier has been increased. The Chief Minister said that today the time has changed, now from parents to teachers, everyone is working to encourage sports and players. In this sequence, to encourage sports along with studies, the state government is providing a scholarship of Rs 1500 to selected players from the age of eight and Rs 2000 per month to players between 14 and 23 years along with an amount of Rs 10,000 per year to buy equipment under the Chief Minister Udayimaan Khiladi Unnayan Yojana. Along with this, Divyang players and trainers are also being given equal rights. To encourage the players, the government has again restored the sports quota in jobs. Keeping in mind the youth power in this year’s budget, a provision has been made to spend Rs 1700 crore for youth welfare, sports, higher education.
The Chief Minister said that to provide sports infrastructure for the players, the government is building new playgrounds, stadiums as well as gyms and tracks. Now the government has also decided to build a sports university, soon its foundation stone will be laid and work will be started.
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has got the hosting of national and winter games, for this the work of providing basic facilities has been completed. To encourage the players of Uttarakhand in national games, the state government will give additional money to the medal winning players, equal to their prize money.
