Dehradun: The way for municipal corporation elections in Uttarakhand has been cleared. On Tuesday, December 10, the Raj Bhavan has approved the ordinance for OBC reservation in municipal bodies. In such a situation, now the process of implementing OBC reservation for the body elections will start on the basis of the ordinance. Just yesterday, the Law Department had approved the ordinance for the body elections. Also, it was sent to the Raj Bhavan for its legal opinion. The ordinance on which the Governor has given approval.
In this regard, Urban Development Minister Premchand Agarwal said that after getting approval from the Governor on the ordinance of OBC reservation, the government will move forward towards the municipal elections. Now the government will decide the reservation of the bodies on the basis of the ordinance. When the reservation of the bodies is decided, then objections will be sought from the public. Finally, after the objections are disposed of, the matter of reservation will be placed before the State Election Commission.
After this, according to the program issued by the State Election Commission, the government will be in a position to conduct elections. He also said that the government will now work very fast regarding the municipal elections. Because the biggest hurdle in the civic elections was OBC reservation, the way for which has been cleared. That is why the schedule of civic elections can be announced anytime now.
It is believed that the reservation of the bodies may take about a week. After this, the public will be given time for objections in about three days. Then after resolving all the objections in about three days, the list of reservations will be sent to the State Election Commission.
Minister Premchand Agarwal said that all the workers of BJP remain alert 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are ready for every challenge like a disciplined soldier. Therefore, in view of the civic elections, the organization had already started preparations, under which information of the claimants of the bodies has also been taken. Also, in-charges have also been appointed.
After the appointment of in-charges, a meeting has also been held by the National General Secretary Organization of BJP. Therefore, the appointed in-charges are going to their respective areas and talking to the workers. In such a situation, preparations will be intensified at the party level only after the decision is taken by the government. Therefore, BJP will also wave the flag in the civic elections.
