Uttarakhand: Now class 9 girls will not be able to study home science in government schools, mathematics has been made compulsory

Dehradun: Class 9 girls will no longer be able to study home science in government schools. Under the National Education Policy 2020, mathematics is being included as a compulsory subject in the curriculum. This recommendation was made in a meeting held at the Directorate of Education regarding the outline of the state curriculum.

So far, there was an option to take home science instead of mathematics on reaching class nine, but now in NEP 2020, mathematics has been made a compulsory subject in high school. This is the reason why the outline of the state curriculum prepared on the lines of NCF in the state recommends making mathematics compulsory from class nine.

According to the officials of the Education Department, there will be general and standard mathematics from class nine. Girls will be able to take general mathematics instead of home science. Which will be able to study biology or other subjects after passing high school. Students with standard mathematics will be able to continue studying mathematics in intermediate after passing high school.

Mathematics has been made compulsory in NEP 2020. Mathematics is now being included from class nine. The same arrangement is in CBSE.
