After the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government came to power at the Center, the acceptance of yoga has increased all over the world. By becoming the brand ambassador of yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has widely promoted yoga. The impact of International Yoga Day has also increased. The Central Sports and Youth Welfare Department has created a separate federation for yoga. It is through this federation that lobbying is being done to include yoga in the Olympics.
Within two-three days, Uttarakhand has received a formal letter from DOC Uttarakhand to include yoga and mallakhamb in the national games. In the mascot ceremony, Indian Olympic Association President Dr. PT Usha had publicly shared this information. According to Dr. DK Singh, General Secretary of Uttarakhand Olympic Association, the team of Director of Competition (DOC) is reaching Uttarakhand in this regard within two-three days. The yoga competition is being held in Almora, while Khatima has been selected for mallakhamb.
