Dehradun: ‘Ek Shaam Sainik Ke Naam’ program was organized on the occasion of Armed Forces Veterans Day (Veterans Day). Governor Retired Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh and CM Dhami participated in the program organized at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. In the program, the Governor and the Chief Minister honored the gallantry medal winners and ex-servicemen who did commendable work. Along with this, the Governor’s appreciation letter was also handed over to the soldiers and officers of the paramilitary force. In the program, Kumaon Scouts, 4th Battalion Assam Regiment and 14th Rajputana Rifles were also honored with Unit Appreciation Letters for their commendable contribution.
At the same time, the Governor said that the experience of the ex-servicemen and their leadership ability are invaluable assets of the nation, their life is a unique example of discipline, leadership and patriotism, which is a source of inspiration for the present and future generations. He urged the ex-servicemen to cooperate in taking the society and the country to new heights with their experiences. They should contribute to fulfilling the goal of developed India by the year 2047. Ex-servicemen should come forward in the field of entrepreneurship and startups and work to inspire the society and the nation.
The Governor said that today we have to take a pledge that we will ensure better management of health services, ECHS benefits and other essential facilities for the families of our brave martyrs by taking care of them and supporting them in every situation. Uttarakhand is the land of heroes, which is also called ‘Devbhoomi’ as well as ‘Veerbhoomi’. Here many brave sons have given their supreme sacrifice for the protection of the country. The ‘Ek Shaam Sainik Ke Naam’ program gives a message to our soldiers and their families that their sacrifice is not only invaluable for us, but is also a source of inspiration for generations to come.
At the same time, CM Dhami said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is also known as Veerbhoomi. Because in the glorious history of the Indian Army, the contribution of our brave soldiers of Uttarakhand has been incomparable. History is a witness to the fact that our brave sons have never left any stone unturned in sacrificing their lives to protect the motherland. The heroes of the state have always shown with their bravery and courage that Devbhoomi can not only show the path of peace to the world. But it can also display valor and bravery when required. It is a matter of pride for all of us that in a small state like Uttarakhand, about 1834 soldiers have been awarded the gallantry award so far. This number is increasing continuously every year.
