Dehradun: The Dhami government is going to take a big decision soon regarding the families of those killed in bus accidents in Uttarakhand. Apart from giving the benefit of accident insurance or financial security to the passengers traveling in government buses, the Dhami government is also going to provide the benefit of accident insurance and financial security to the passengers traveling in private buses. For this, CM Dhami has given instructions to the concerned departmental officers.
On Wednesday, CM Dhami ordered the Secretary Transport to provide a proposal within 10 days to bring uniformity in the compensation of government and private buses. At present, in case of death in an accident while traveling in the buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, a total assistance of Rs 5 lakh is provided to the family of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund and Road Safety Fund. Apart from this, an accident compensation amount of Rs 5 lakh is also given by the corporation.
In such a situation, now the passengers of private bus operators will also get the benefit of this scheme. Under which the families of the passengers of private buses during accidents will get a total relief amount of ten lakh rupees. CM Dhami said that the pain of loss of life in road accidents is unbearable for all families. In such a situation, there should not be any kind of inequality in the relief amount. The CM directed that the Road Safety Manual should be presented in the next cabinet soon. Along with this, the process of increasing enforcement on the roads, ensuring fitness of buses, driving test of drivers, health test and installing the remaining crash barriers should be expedited.
