Voting for civic elections continues across the state from 8 am, more than 30 lakh voters are deciding the fate of 5405 candidates today

Dehradun: Municipal elections are being held in Uttarakhand today. Voting has started at 8 am. The fate of 5405 candidates is being decided today in a total of 100 municipal bodies. There are 11 municipal corporations in these 100 municipal bodies. There are 43 municipalities. There are 46 Nagar Panchayat elections. After today’s voting, these votes will be counted on January 25 and the winners will be announced.

Voting for Uttarakhand civic elections

Today people in Uttarakhand are voting for a small government. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people about the municipal elections. The fate of 72 candidates for the post of mayor of 11 municipal corporations of the state is going to be sealed in the ballot box.

The fate of 445 candidates for the post of president in 89 municipalities and Nagar Panchayats is also being sealed in the ballot box today. Voters are also deciding the fate of 4888 candidates for the posts of councillor-ward member in all the bodies today.

Total voters in the bodies

There are a total of 3,029,028 lakh voters in Uttarakhand Municipal Corporation. Among these, the number of female voters is 14 lakh 66 thousand 151. The number of male voters is 15 lakh 62 thousand 349. The number of third gender voters is 528. Dehradun district has the highest number of voters while Rudraprayag district has the lowest number of voters.

If we talk about voters district wise, then the highest number of voters is in Dehradun. There are a total of 998,231 voters in Dehradun district. Among these, there are 4,85,103 women and 513,080 men including 48 other voters. There are a total of 587,127 voters in Haridwar district. Among these, there are 279,924 women and 307,053 men including 150 other voters. There are a total of 47,723 voters in Uttarkashi district. These include 22,662 women and 25,037 men including 24 other voters.

There are a total of 80,136 voters in Tehri Garhwal district. These include 36,359 women and 43,766 men including 11 other voters. There are a total of 173,565 voters in Pauri Garhwal district. These include 86,342 women and 87,181 men including 42 other voters. There are a total of 18,237 voters in Rudraprayag district. These include 8,810 women and 9,427 male voters. Talking about the candidates, 35 candidates are in the fray for the posts of Mayor and Chairman in 7 bodies of Dehradun district. 780 candidates are contesting for the posts of councillor and member. 121 candidates are in the fray for the posts of Mayor and Chairman in 14 bodies of Haridwar. 1147 candidates are in the fray for the posts of councillor and member. 23 candidates are trying their luck for the post of chairman in 6 bodies of Uttarkashi and 120 candidates are in the fray for the posts of members.

34 candidates are contesting for the post of chairman in 10 bodies of Tehri Garhwal district and 186 candidates are in the fray for the posts of members. 27 candidates are contesting for the post of chairman in 8 bodies of Pauri Garhwal district and 396 candidates are in the fray as members. 16 candidates are in the fray for the post of chairman in 5 bodies of Rudraprayag district and 61 candidates are trying their luck for the posts of members. In Chamoli district, 43 candidates are trying their luck for the post of president in 10 bodies and 176 people are contesting for the member’s election.

If we talk about the 6 districts of Kumaon division, then in 8 bodies of Almora district, a total of 25 candidates are trying their luck for the post of mayor and president. 211 candidates are in the fray for councillor and member. In 5 bodies of Pithoragarh district, 32 candidates are contesting for the post of mayor and president. 253 candidates are in the fray for councillor and member. In 3 bodies of Bageshwar district, a total of 10 candidates are in the fray. Here 57 people are trying their luck for the member. In 4 bodies of Champawat district, a total of 20 candidates are in the fray for the post of president. 105 candidates are trying their luck for the member’s post.

In 8 bodies of Nainital district, 36 candidates are contesting for the posts of mayor and president. There is a contest between 496 candidates for councillor and member. There is a contest between 92 candidates for the post of Mayor and Chairman in 16 bodies of Udham Singh Nagar district. Whereas 897 candidates are in the fray for the post of councilor and ward member.

The result of the civic elections will be declared on January 25. But even before the voting, one chairman of Nagar Palika Parishad and two chairmans of Nagar Panchayat have been elected unopposed. Along with this, 14 councilors of Nagar Nigam, 20 members of Nagar Palika Parishad and 10 members of Nagar Panchayat were elected unopposed. That is, candidates have already been elected unopposed for a total of 47 posts.
