In a shocking revelation, 31 complaints have been lodged against 24 Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers in Chhattisgarh, leading to an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption, deforestation, and wildlife smuggling.
The accused officers, entrusted with protecting the state’s forest resources, are now facing charges of facilitating illegal logging, involvement in wildlife hunting, and amassing disproportionate wealth. The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) are currently probing the extent of their involvement in these illegal activities.
The significant discrepancy between their official earnings and accumulated wealth has raised serious concerns about the widespread corruption within the state’s forest management system. As investigations proceed, authorities are working to identify those responsible for exploiting their positions for personal gain and causing irreversible damage to Chhattisgarh’s forests.
