Dehradun: The Pollution Control Board, which monitors the environment in Uttarakhand, will now be able to keep more accurate information about air pollution. In fact, the Pollution Control Board is going to install a real time air quality monitoring system to monitor the air quality of all the districts in the state. This system will be installed in all the districts in the state. Due to which air pollution can be monitored at the district level as well.
The Pollution Control Board monitors environmental changes in Uttarakhand. The aim of the board is to promote environmental protection across the state and make all efforts for this. However, due to lack of adequate arrangements regarding air pollution in the state, the Pollution Control Board is not able to monitor air pollution in all the districts. In such a situation, now the board has taken new efforts forward and decided to install air quality monitoring systems in all the districts.
Only three cities are monitored
At present, the Pollution Control Board is able to monitor the air quality of three cities. This includes Dehradun, Rishikesh and Kashipur cities. Assessment of air pollution in the state is done on the basis of air quality report of these three cities. Whereas the rest of the districts of the state are not monitored in terms of air quality.
The air quality of the mountainous region is also deteriorating
The Pollution Control Board will install real time air quality monitoring system in all the districts of the state. After the board installs this system in different districts, 24-hour air quality report of all the districts can be recorded. Although the air quality of the mountainous districts in the state has been considered better. But in the recent past, due to increase in various activities in the mountainous areas, the air quality has decreased.
Pollution Control Board Member Secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate says that at present, in the state, the air quality index of only three cities is being recorded every hour as a monitoring. Whereas there is a need to monitor pollution in the rest of the districts of the state as well and in view of this, it has been decided to install new systems in the headquarters of all the districts.
After the installation of air quality system in all the districts, the board will be able to get the data related to air pollution every hour and on this basis, necessary measures can also be taken through the board. However, a report is given to the government through the board after looking at the condition of air pollution and then special plans or efforts are made for this at the state government level as well.
