Chief Minister inaugurated the second phase of Lab on Wheels-Mobile Science Lab project

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave the gift of 9 mobile science labs to the students studying in government schools of the state through Lab on Wheels. The Chief Minister observed the science models of the mobile science lab in the camp office premises and flagged off 09 mobile science labs. Last year also, the Chief Minister had flagged off mobile science labs for four districts of the state, Champawat, Almora, Dehradun and Pauri.

UCOST Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant said that in the first phase, Lab on Wheels was successfully operated in 04 districts of the state, namely Champawat, Almora, Dehradun and Pauri, in view of whose unprecedented results, Lab on Wheels was launched in the remaining districts of the state today. Prof Pant informed that through the ambitious project of the state government, Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) is working to popularise science in rural/remote areas of the state and promote science communication activities. Under the project, students of classes six to ten of the state are being provided an opportunity to learn and understand better the syllabus of subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics etc. through laboratory, practical demonstrations/models, science activities and demonstrations. Prof Pant said that this is the second phase of the project in the state, under which it is being done in the remaining nine districts, namely Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. On this occasion, Science and Technology Secretary Nitesh Jha and Science City Advisor GS Rautela, Joint Director from UCOST Dr. DP Uniyal, Project Coordinator E. Jitendra Kumar, Amit Pokhriyal, Vikas Nautiyal, Puneet Singh and Amit Kumar, Ashok Singh, Yogesh from the partner organization Agastya International, besides teachers from various schools Ram Aashray Chauhan, Nidhi, Shivani Kohli, Seema Bhandari, Abhay Sharma, Suman Gupta, Anita Negi and students were present.
