Uttarkashi: 9 houses were burnt to ashes due to fire in Savni village of border development block Mori last night. The fire spread rapidly in the wooden houses in the village. 2 houses had to be demolished to save them from the fire and 3 houses were partially demolished. About 25 families have become homeless due to the fire. At the same time, the villagers told that there was no water in the village for three days, due to which the villagers had to face a lot of difficulties in extinguishing the fire. At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed to provide all possible assistance to the families affected by the fire in Savni village of Uttarkashi.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered the district administration to immediately start relief and rehabilitation work. He has instructed the District Magistrate to arrange essential materials to the affected families on priority basis. CM Dhami wrote on social media that I am in constant touch with the District Magistrate in this regard. SDRF, Police, Fire Service, Forest Department team and other officials are present at the spot. We stand with the villagers in this difficult time, all possible help will be provided to the affected families.
It is noteworthy that late last night a fire broke out in a house in Savni village. The fire went out of control and engulfed many houses. District Magistrate Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht took information about the incident from Tehsildar Mori. The DM has given instructions to send additional teams for relief and rescue work on the spot. After which Tehsildar Mori reached the spot with an additional team of revenue personnel and relief material. The spot is said to be about 5 km away from the road.
Fire service, police team and other departments have also been alerted for relief and rescue work. At the same time, Sub-District Magistrate, District Disaster Management Officer Devanand Sharma left for Savni village at night. He reached Savni village and told that the fire has been controlled. Along with the Revenue Department, Police, SDRF, Fire Service, Animal Husbandry Department and Forest Department are present on the spot. A total of 9 houses have been completely burnt in the village, in which about 15-16 families used to live. Apart from this, 2 houses have been completely demolished to save them from fire and 3 houses have been partially demolished.
The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet. It is being told that a puja lamp was burning in Kitab Singh’s house, due to which the fire is said to have started. About 22-25 families have been affected by the fire. They are in urgent need of good tents to live in. The Food Department has been directed for ration. An elderly woman is being reported missing by the villagers. Even after a lot of search, no trace has been found yet.
District Magistrate Meherban Singh Bisht has also given instructions to take the help of forest personnel of Tons Forest Division and Govind Wildlife Sanctuary along with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam for relief and rescue operations. Sub-district magistrate Purola has been instructed to coordinate the relief and rescue work. Let us tell you that last year also an incident of arson had occurred in Savni village. Due to which dozens of families had become homeless.
