Uttarakhand: Earthquake alert will be available on mobile 15 to 30 seconds in advance, CM Dhami appeals to download Bhudev app

Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, which is very sensitive from the seismic point of view, people will get an alert on their mobile 15 to 30 seconds in advance when an earthquake occurs. USDMA (Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority) and IIT Roorkee have developed the Bhudev app for this.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday appealed to the people of the state through a video message to download this app in maximum numbers. He said that according to the sensitivity of earthquakes, Uttarakhand is under zone four and five. In such a situation, all citizens need to be aware and vigilant.

This is how you will get alert from the app

Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said that this app has been developed for the purpose of providing earthquake alert. For this, 169 sensors have been installed at different places in the state.

He said that when an earthquake occurs, two types of waves emerge, which we call primary and secondary waves. Primary waves emerge first. When an earthquake occurs, sensors installed at different places will detect the primary waves. If the intensity of the earthquake is more than 5.0 on the Richter scale, a siren will ring in the mobile phone through the Bhudev app.

On getting a warning 15 to 30 seconds before the arrival of secondary waves, people will be able to ensure the safety of themselves and their loved ones by taking precautions. This app can be downloaded through Play and App Store.

The number of sensors and sirens will increase

According to the Disaster Management Secretary, currently 169 sensors and 112 sirens are installed in the state. Now their number is being increased, so that alerts can be received on a wide scale in the entire state. In this sequence, there is a plan to install 500 additional sensors and one thousand sirens.
