Namrata Gandhi Appointed Deputy Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat for Five Years

Namrata Gandhi, a 2013 batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat for a five-year term. The Department of Personnel and Training issued the appointment order on Friday, January 31, 2025. The competent authority has approved her posting under the central staffing scheme for four years from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Born on February 1, 1989, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Namrata Gandhi completed her early education in Mumbai. She graduated in Political Science from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, and then began preparing for the UPSC exam. She cleared the exam on her first attempt in 2011 with an All India Rank of 600, securing a position in the Indian Postal Service. Determined to become an IAS officer, she attempted UPSC again and secured the 42nd rank, earning a place in the Indian Administrative Service with the Chhattisgarh cadre.

Her first field posting was as Assistant Collector in Rajnandgaon. She later served as CEO of the District Panchayat in Kanker, Surguja, and Dhamtari. She also held the position of Collector in Gariaband and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi districts. Currently, she is serving as the Collector of Dhamtari district.
