New Delhi/Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, alleging that Arvind Kejriwal talks about the safety of women, but a woman MP of his own party was assaulted at his residence.
‘The implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand will benefit the whole country in future’
Addressing an election rally in Rithala area of north-west Delhi, Dhami claimed that the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand will benefit the whole country in future. Referring to the development projects in the national capital under the Modi government, he said some of the major schemes include the Dwarka Expressway at a cost of Rs 7,500 crore, Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor at a cost of Rs 920 crore, Eastern Peripheral Expressway at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore and the recently approved Delhi Metro Phase-4. He said these projects will give a new direction to development in the region. He alleged that while on one hand Prime Minister Modi is moving ahead with the vision of making India a developed nation, on the other hand AAP and Congress have an agenda of “appeasement and corruption”.
‘Kejriwal government’s scams are coming out one after the other’
“AAP-da” (referring to Aam Aadmi Party) came to power by targeting Congress over corruption, but today they have surpassed Congress in this matter,” the Chief Minister alleged. “Scams of the Kejriwal government are coming out one after the other,” he said. Aam Aadmi Party chief Kejriwal talks of providing security to women, but the whole country saw how a woman MP of his party was beaten up at her residence. Taking a dig at Kejriwal’s repeated promises regarding cleaning the Yamuna river, he said, “In every election, he claims that he will get it cleaned. Instead of blaming Haryana, go to Yamunotri and Kharsali and see how Yamuna serves as a lifeline for the people.” “Where did the Rs 8,500 crore allocated by the Centre for cleaning Yamuna go?” he asked. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had promised the people of Uttarakhand during the 2022 election that it would bring a Uniform Civil Code for all. Dhami highlighted the BJP’s commitment to fulfilling the promises and said the people of Uttarakhand had broken the 22-year myth of changing the government in every election in the state by re-electing the BJP government in 2022. He said, “In the year 2022, an incident took place in which a woman Shraddha Walkar was murdered, her body was cut into pieces and kept in a 300-litre fridge. After this civil code, no one will be able to do such cruelty to any woman.” He also mentioned the construction work of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which will reduce the travel time between the two places to two and a half hours. Voting for the 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5 and the counting of votes will be done on February 8.
