Dehradun: A review meeting was held on the progress made so far regarding the registration of marriage and other services under the Uniform Civil Code i.e. UCC. Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, while conducting the review meeting, directed such District Magistrates to review the registration in the districts where maximum cases of registration cancellation are coming up.

The Home Secretary held a review meeting to know the progress of registration being done for various services under the Uniform Civil Code. During this, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli asked the District Magistrates to review the cancellation of various registrations. Instructions were especially issued to such districts where more cases of registration cancellation are coming up.
94 thousand applications received on UCC portal
So far about 94,000 applications have been received on the Uniform Civil Code portal in the state. Out of this, the number of applications for marriage registration is 73,093. Apart from this, 19,956 applications came for approval of registered marriage. 430 applications came for will and 136 applications for divorce. Similarly, 46 applications are related to live-in relationship and four applications are related to inheritance without will. The special thing is that 89% of these applications have been approved. About 5% applications have been rejected. If seen in terms of districts, on an average 174 applications are being received per district every day.
These districts are top in marriage registration
In the registration of marriages after the year 2010, Rudraprayag has done the best with 29%, Uttarkashi with 23 percent and Chamoli with 21%. Another special thing is that the requirement of video KYC for approval of previously registered marriage has been abolished. Efforts are also being made to make higher certificates (practical skills in various subjects) available in DigiLocker. There are 382 panchayats in the state from where no application has been received yet. In such a situation, instructions have also been given to increase awareness and publicity here.
Special instructions for higher certificate
While reviewing the Uniform Civil Code, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli gave directions that the District Magistrate should organize camps to increase public awareness in the field of higher related services, especially marriage registration. Apart from this, government employees should be given top priority for 100 percent marriage registration.
