With the start of these two treks, new dimensions of tourism will open up in this valley which was closed after the Indo-China war in 1962.

Preparations to start trek on Neelapani-Mulingna Pass

It will be developed on the lines of Ladakh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Mukhaba, Harshil Valley has raised hopes of giving a new dimension to the tourism of the district. After the 1962 war, Sonam Valley including Nelang and Jadung was converted into a cantonment. The movement of local people and tourists was stopped there. But now on the basis of geographical conditions, plans have been started to develop it on the lines of Ladakh.

The district administration is preparing to start treks on Jadung-Janaktal and Neelapani-Mulingna Pass. DM Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht said that our effort is that PM Narendra Modi should give a new dimension to adventure tourism in Nelang-Jadung Valley by inaugurating these two treks during his visit. At the same time, home stay construction has also started under the Vibrant scheme to settle Nelang and Jadung villages.
