The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has reallocated responsibilities among its members following the retirement of Mr. Harinder Bir Singh Gill, 1987-batch IRS (IT) officer, on February 28, 2025. Mr. Gill previously served as Member (Taxpayer Services and Revenue) while also handling additional charges of Member (Systems and Faceless Services) and Member (Income Tax).
As per the latest allocations:
- Mr. Prabodh Seth, 1989-batch IRS (IT) officer, currently serving as Member (Administration) and In-charge of West Zone (Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur), has been assigned additional responsibilities as:
- Member (Systems and Faceless Services)
- In charge of Kerala and Tamil Nadu
- Member (Taxpayer Services and Revenue) with charge of East Zone, covering West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and NER
- Mr. Ramesh Narain Parbat, 1989-batch IRS (IT) officer, who holds the position of Member (Legislation) and In-charge of North Zone (Delhi, UP-East, UP-West, Uttarakhand, and NWR), as well as Member (Audit and Judicial) with zonal responsibility for Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, has been given additional charge of Member (Income Tax) along with zonal charge of Karnataka & Goa and Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.
This reshuffle aims to streamline operations within the CBDT and enhance administrative efficiency following Mr. Gill’s retirement.
