Dehradun: From International Women’s Day, Mahila Sarathi will now work to take women passengers to their destination on the roads of Dehradun. During the launch of the scheme, Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya said that women were behind in the transport sector but now women will wave their flag in this field too.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya launched the Mahila Sarathi Yojana in the IRDT auditorium on Saturday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister wished the participants a Happy International Women’s Day. The Chief Minister said that the state government is constantly making efforts in the direction of women empowerment. We have recently started many schemes only for women. Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya said that empowerment of women should start from the time of birth of a girl child. She said that women themselves should contribute the most in empowering women.
Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya said that Mahila Sarathi Yojana will prove to be a milestone in the direction of women empowerment in the state. She said that after seeing the progress of the pilot project for 6 months, there is a plan to implement this scheme in the entire state. In the program, five women who have earned a name in five different male dominated fields were also honored.
Women will be given loans in future
Vehicles for the pilot project of Mahila Sarathi have been arranged by the Chamber of Business and Entrepreneur (India) Council. In which free rides have been kept for one week from today. When this scheme will be expanded in the entire state and more vehicles will be required for it, then vehicles will be arranged by getting loans to trained women on easy terms.
