Chief Secretary reviewed the education department, directed the officials to prepare for implementing the National Education Policy exam pattern

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the education department in the secretariat on Wednesday. The Chief Secretary discussed the activities of the department in detail with the officials. He said that arrangements should be ensured to incorporate the exam pattern and other provisions under the National Education Policy.

The target of the number of students in Bharat Darshan Yojana this year is 1000, the target for next year is 5000

The Chief Secretary directed to expand the Bharat Darshan Yojana under secondary education. He said that at least 1 thousand children should be taken on Bharat Darshan Yatra this year, which should be targeted to be increased to 5000 next year. This is an important scheme for the exploration and skills of children. He also directed to increase the days of Bharat Darshan Yatra to 7 days. He said that tours of India’s prestigious science and technology institutions as well as military establishments should be organized.

Instructions given to prepare DPR for cluster school buildings in one month

The Chief Secretary gave instructions to expedite the construction of the proposed 559 cluster schools. He instructed to prepare and submit DPR of all the identified cluster school buildings in the next one month. During the meeting itself, he instructed the heads of the departments of the implementing agencies selected by the Education Department through phone to prepare the DPR in one month. He also instructed to prepare the DPR of smart classes and computer lab construction works in one month. To expedite the construction work, he also instructed the departmental directors to visit the districts for coordination with the District Magistrates and implementing agencies. During the tour programs of the districts, he also instructed to organize meetings of the district level committees headed by the District Magistrate for vehicle fare in cluster schools soon and settle such matters.

Time line should be fixed for every work: Chief Secretary

The Chief Secretary also instructed to prepare the DPR of all the proposed hostel facilities for the schools in one month. He also directed to open a dedicated head for computer lab for smart classes. He said that to avoid delay in construction work, time limit should be fixed for each work, and works should be reviewed regularly at the level of Secretary, Additional Secretary and Director General. He said that focus should also be given on increasing residential schools within the state. He directed that a vehicle should be made available in residential schools, so that problems arising in medical emergency and other emergency situations can be avoided. Secretary Ravinath Raman and Additional Secretary Mrs. Ranjana Rajguru along with other senior officers were present on this occasion.
